- First of all, we will go to the Voortrekker monument, or the Great Migration of the Boer people, when they fled from the power of the British deep into the continent. The people who went on such a dangerous journey met with serious resistance from the local tribes, and also experienced difficulties due to weather conditions and a hot climate. Many of the Boers died in an attempt to gain a foothold in the new land, which then became their home, this lasted from 1835 to 1854. As a result, two new states of the Transvaal and the Free Republic of Orange arose. It is this difficult history that is captured in this monument.
- Our next stop is Church Square, which is located in the city center. The square itself can tell a lot of interesting things, but we will also pay attention to the local architecture with its own unique history.
- Next up is the Union Building, which was founded in 1910 when the building's architect came up with the plan for the building. According to his idea, it was supposed to symbolize the unity of the country and the British and the Boers, on the sides of the building there are two wings that adjoin the central semicircle. This small architectural masterpiece was erected as a consolation to a country that had not yet had time to recover from the horrors of the Anglo-Boer War.
