Our climbe starts at the west of the mountain near the gate of Londorossi. After dense forests and moorlands, it crosses the plateau called the Shira. After which it joins the Machame route. Then we head to the Barranco Valley. We will have a much higher chance of success, since the route itself takes enough time to acclimatise.
When you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met and escorted to your hotel – Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel 4 stars B&B. There I will meet you and tell all about the upcoming ascent, give you a briefing, as well as check the equipment.
DAY 1:
We will start by setting off from Moshi to the gates of Kilimanjaro National Park, the journey will take us about 45 minutes, and we will pass through picturesque mountain villages.
Upon arrival we will admire the local flora and fauna and I will answer all your questions. At the initial stage of the ascent, the trail will be very muddy and slippery, so we highly recommend using trekking poles and leggings.
DAY 2:
After waking up and having a hearty breakfast, we will leave the forest area to begin our journey to the top. Our goal is to reach the edge of the Shira Plateau. This is where the temperature starts to drop.
DAY 3:
Our path leads east to the top of the Kibo Glacier; we will pass through the plateau leading to the Shira 2 camp, which is located in the heather meadows near the stream.
Further, our path will lie to Moir Hat, a place at the foot of the Lent Hills. We will be able to stop for a while, walk and acclimatize. Shira is considered one of the highest plateaus on the planet.
DAY 4:
Although this day we will remain at about the same altitude as the previous day, its significance for acclimatization is very high. From the plateau we will move to the Lava Tower, which is also called the Shark Tooth. From there we will descend to the Barranco camp, where we will spend the coming night and rest.
DAY 5:
After breakfast, we will head to the Karanga valley, where we will find the crossroad that connects to the Mweka trail. Overnight at Karanga camp.
DAY 6:
On this day, our main task is to get to the Barafu camp, from where our path along the southern route will be completed; we will have many breathtaking views from various angles. We will have an early lunch and dinner to prepare for the evening climb. We will spend the night at the Barafu camp.
DAY 7:
This day the excitement is gradually growing, because we will start our journey another night, between midnight and 2 o'clock in the morning. This part of the tour is the most difficult. We will be able to watch a beautiful sunrise at a high altitude.
On the way to Uhuru Peak, we will encounter snow everywhere, about 1 hour of the journey remains. Our congratulations, with hard work and fortitude you have conquered the highest mountain in all of Africa! There, at the top, we will take many memorable photos and enjoy the moment.
Then we will be waiting for the descent to the Mweka camp, with a stop in Barafu. During the descent, it is also recommended to use leggings and trekking poles, the terrain here is difficult. We will stop at the Mweka camp, where we will have a long-awaited rest.
DAY 8:
After a hearty breakfast continue our descent to Mweka Park, where we will receive real climbing certificates. At the gate of Mweka we will be met by a car that will take you to the hotel in Moshi, the journey will take about half an hour. Enjoy all the benefits of civilization: hot shower, dinner and celebrations! Rest and overnight at the hotel.
