I invite you to go to one of the most beautiful South African cities – Cape Town! It is one of the largest in area and the third largest city in the country, located on the picturesque coast of the Atlantic Ocean. This city has a very rich history and cultural heritage.
Our tour begins at the Green Market Square, from where we will go to the first sight – St. George's Cathedral. This monument of historical significance, also known as the "People's Cathedral", is the oldest cathedral in the country, which played a large role in the fight against the apartheid regime. It is also the main church of the Anglican diocese in the city. There you will learn about Desmond Tutu: he was the Bishop of Cape Town, a prominent opponent of the apartheid regime, and just a very brave man.
Next, we are waiting for the Bo-Kaap museum, which is one of the oldest houses in its area, built in the middle of the 18th century. The museum, which is located in the historic center of Cape Town, was home to Muslims and former slaves after the ban on slavery. There we will learn all about the Islamic culture of Cape Town and its heritage.
The next stop is the Regional Museum. It is interesting because its floor is a huge map of the area, on which records of the inhabitants of the area have been preserved, who wrote the addresses of their houses on it. Here we will also find outdated road signs, household items of local residents, declarations of historical significance and much more!
After the museum, we will go to the cable car, which offers a great view of Table Mountain. We will admire the South African landscapes and see off the sunset!
